Whoosh! From Prose to Comics

Dearest readers,

Blue Stoop staff are out of office this week, but thanks to support from our incredible volunteers, you can still attend Poetry Club and Thursdays on the Stoop. Our usual program schedule (Wednesday's coworking sessions, Thursday's free workshops) will resume next week.

We're also hoping to open fall classes for registration next week, pending any administrative delays. Expect a mix of in-person and virtual options, lengths ranging from 2 hours to 9 weeks, and genres like poetry, magical realism, comics, essays, novels, and more. If you're curious about writing, or looking to sharpen your skills, we've got a class for you! Financial aid and payment plans will be available, as always.

One more thing: This week is your last week to rent summer masterclass recordings or enter our raffle for $50 of Milk Jawn ice cream. We'll fulfill any orders received on or after 8/23 (and pick a raffle winner!) when we're back in office on 9/2, give or take a day. Thank you for your patience!

Tuesday, 8/26, 6:30 – 7:30pm ET: Poetry Club. A peer-led poetry reading & discussion group, powered by Blue Stoop volunteers. This month's featured writer is Andrea Gibson. Is this your last chance to join Poetry Club? Only time will tell! (FREE/VIRTUAL)
Thursday, 8/28, 4:00 – 5:00pm ET: Thursdays on the Stoop: WHOOSH—From Prose to Comics! with Kelley Skovron. This free hour-long session will explore the key differences between writing prose and comics, covering the craft of pacing with visual cues, the power of juxtaposition, and mapping out beats on the page. (FREE/VIRTUAL)
Monday, 9/1, 11:59pm ET: Summer Masterclasses recording sales and Milk Jawn raffle ticket sales end, once and for all! Any orders placed on or after 8/23 will be fulfilled when we return from vacation (9/2, give or take a day).
