Thursdays on the Stoop: Writing Your Digital Past

Thursdays on the Stoop is a series of free, virtual writing workshops led for and by our community members. With topics ranging from generative prompts to editing strategies, these informal workshops are sure to shake up your Thursday routine. RSVP below to get the link.

For better or worse, the internet can serve as a comprehensive archive of the people we used to be. In this free hour-long session, participants will reflect on a personal digital artifact — a Facebook post, an old blog entry, a photo they were tagged in, or even an imagined post from their younger self. Together, we’ll explore how our digital footprints capture our past selves, and how writing can help us reconnect with, challenge, or honor those versions.

Adryan Corcione (they/them) is a trans writer and journalist with over a decade of experience publishing essays and cultural criticism online. From coding on Xanga as a teen to writing for online publications, Adryan’s work traces their own coming-of-age alongside the internet’s evolution. They are currently seeking representation for a hybrid memoir about growing up online.

Their writing has received notable recognition: a Teen Vogue piece on brain trauma was republished by the Louisiana Department of Education and a Filter Mag investigation on testosterone criminalization was cited by U.S. Senators Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey. In 2019, Adryan received a reporting grant from the American Society of Journalists and Authors for LGBTQ+ health journalism.

Adryan now writes about internet culture on their Substack, Adryan Online (https://adryancorcione.substack.com/). They live in New Jersey. To learn more about their work, visit adryancorcione.net. Follow them on Instagram at @adryancore.
