Jacqueline Goldfinger--Writing Poetic Plays, a Weekend Intensive

Registration is rolling until Wednesday February 9 at 5pm. No application is required.

Perfect for playwrights, poets, and anyone who is interested in playwriting. This class will meet 10 AM - 4 PM on February 12th and 13th over Zoom.

Daily Schedule: 10 AM - 12 PM - read and discuss scenes, 12 PM - 2 PM - break for lunch and writing, 2 PM - 4 PM share writing prompts and receive feedback

Spend two glorious days bathed in poetic plays and participating in writing prompts and feedback sessions. The plays we will read from and discuss are: EURYDICE by Sarah Ruhl, FOR COLORED GIRLS WHO HVE CONSIDERED SUICIDE/WHEN THE RAINBOW IS ENUF by Ntozake Shange, TOOTH OF CRIME (SECOND DANCE) by Sam Shepard, and BENGAL TIGER AT THE BAGHDAD ZOO by Rajiv Joseph. You do not have to read these plays prior to the class, however, feel free to if you like. We will not be reading the full plays in class. Instead, we will be discussing individual scenes which I will screen share via Zoom to use as examples and jumping off points for writing prompts.
